Spread the Word and Share!

The Enchantment Resort in Sedona, Arizona, is a five-star hotel that blends luxury and nature into an unforgettable experience. Guests often stay at the Enchantment Resort, seeking adventure, relaxation, or simply a moment of peace amidst the breathtakingly beautiful and iconic red rocks.

Enchantment Resort delivers on each of these fronts, and I hope to visit again!

When deciding which luxury hotel to stay at in Sedona, two choices spring to mind: Enchantment Resort and L’Auberge de Sedona. Before booking our stay, I researched both resorts and spoke to several people who stayed at these luxury properties. Given the name of this blog post, it’s no surprise we chose to stay at the Enchantment Resort.  Here’s why.

The Top Reasons I Picked the Enchantment Resort

I chose the Enchantment Resort in Sedona, Arizona, for several reasons:

  1. The VIEWS! The surrounding red rocks are pretty in pictures but magnificent in person.
  2. Enchantment Resort was built in the heart of Boynton Canyon, where stellar red rocks surround the low-lying resort that effortlessly slips into the background.
  3. The luxury property lives up to its five-star reputation.
  4. Enchantment Resort provides easy access to Boynton Canyon, which is close to endless hiking and mountain biking trails, as well as Instagramable places like Devil’s Bridge and Subway Canyon.
  5. Enchantment Resort is a luxurious and romantic hotel.
  6. The food is delicious.
  7. The spa is world-famous and offers unique treatments.
  8. The sprawling grounds give you space to enjoy the views without being close to a neighbor.
  9. Enchantment Resort provides incredible service.
  10. I loved the causal yet elegant feel of the hotel.
  11. The Southwestern motif fits the landscape perfectly.

Enchantment Resort Overview

Driving into the grounds of the Enchantment Resort on Boynton Canyon Road in Sedona, Arizona, is like entering another world.  The red rocks that surround the hotel jet out of the ground towering above and almost touching the clouds, creating an atmosphere of wonder and awe. The jaw-dropping views are a sight to see.

The resort itself consists of numerous low-lying buildings and bungalows. Each is painted the same color as the red rocks to fit in with its natural surroundings. The Mii amo spa on the opposite side of Boynton Canyon Road was also specifically designed to fit into the natural landscape rather than detract from Mother Earth’s natural beauty.

Wherever you stand in the resort, you will find unparalleled views of the surrounding vibrant red rocks.  While Sedona itself is known for its outstanding red rocks, there is no denying the magical and romantic atmosphere at the Enchantment Resort.

These are just a few of the reasons that the Enchantment Resort is one of the best hotels in Sedona, Arizona.

Where is the Enchantment Resort?

View from Airport Mesa

The Enchantment Resort is in Sedona, Arizona. The luxury hotel offers a secluded sanctuary in Boynton Canyon where guests can reconnect with nature and themselves. Surrounded by gigantic red rock formations that glisten in the sun, the resort provides a sense of serenity that is truly unmatched.

Is the Enchantment Resort Near Anything?

While Enchantment Resort is close to several popular hiking trails, it is a bit of a drive to town.

If you are ready to tear yourself away from the views, you can head into downtown Sedona, which is located about 15 minutes away, to grab a bite to eat.  The main town of Sedona includes restaurants, hiking trails, shops, and boutiques.

How do I get to Enchantment Resort?

Most people either drive or fly into Sedona, Arizona, where the Enchantment Resort is located.

Driving to Sedona

We drove to Sedona from Los Angeles. The drive was about eight hours, including a lunch stop. The drive was easy, straight, and flat. We took the most direct route from Los Angeles.  However, if you have time, opt for the drive through Prescott for a more scenic route.

Pro Tip:  Leave Los Angeles in the morning (preferably before 6 am) to beat rush hour traffic.

Flying Options

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is the largest airport near Sedona. Phoenix is a popular flight destination for visitors heading to Sedona.

Once you land, you can either pick up your rental car or hop in a prearranged car service to drive you two hours to Sedona.

Enchantment Resort is one hour south of Flagstaff Pulliam Airport and about an hour and a half from Prescott Regional Airport.

Those with a bigger budget can fly privately or take a helicopter directly into Sedona. Enchantment Resort is twenty minutes from the Sedona airport.

Enchantment Resort Room Options

Queen Room at Enchantment Resort

The Enchantment Resort rooms range from cozy casitas to spacious suites. The Enchantment Resort offers room types that suit every preference. Each room embraces the resort’s Southwestern aesthetic, featuring warm earth tones, Southwestern accents, and luxurious amenities.

Casitas

The Casitas rooms are cozy yet luxurious accommodations featuring Southwestern-inspired décor and private patios.

Casitas Studio

We stayed in a Casitas Studio with a queen-size Murphy bed, a patio with unobstructed red rock views, and a barbecue. The room also had a fireplace, a separate kitchenette with a dining table, and a large bathroom complete with a standalone shower.  Our room was closer to the back gate of Boynton Canyon, which was quiet and ideal for us.

Pro Tip: If you prefer an outdoor grill during your stay, be sure to request one upon booking.

Suites

The suite options include junior suites and more spacious suites.  The junior suites include a king bed, a luxurious living room, and a fireplace. The bathroom includes one of my favorite amenities, heated bathroom floors, and a large soaking tub with a separate shower.

The suites offer larger rooms and patios, an outdoor fireplace, and a daybed.  Suite options include one or two bedrooms and, depending on the configuration, sleeps between two and six people.

Enchantment Resort Restaurants

Che Ah Chi

Whether you are stopping in for a drink at the bar or indulging in Southwestern farm-to-table cuisine, Che Ah Chi is a must.  Che Ah Chi, which means “red rocks,” is one of the best places to watch the sunset at Enchantment Resort.  I could not get enough of watching the sun turn the red rocks into molten gold before the sun dropped behind the mountains.

View from Enchantment Resort

The upscale restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  We ate at the bar and enjoyed some of the signature drinks and dishes.  Although there is an extensive wine list, we opted for cocktails infused with local ingredients and could not get enough of the guacamole.  Even now, I wish I had a bowl of it while writing this post!

Pro Tip:  Che Ah Chi is a popular restaurant in Sedona.  Therefore, reservations are highly recommended.

Tii Gavo

Tii Gavo offers a more casual dining experience where you can sip delicious cocktails and savor the views. You can enjoy dinner either indoors or al fresco. We enjoyed breakfast at Tii Gavo, overlooking the red rocks, which were shining bright thanks to the morning sun.

Hummingbird at Mii amo

Hummingbird, the newest restaurant at Enchantment Resort, offers seasonal breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. In keeping with the spa setting at Mii amo, it also offers a full juice bar and smoothie menu.

Pro Tip:  Reservations are required

The Market

The Market is perfect for grab-and-go and quick bites. It is a terrific option for pastries, sandwiches, salads, and snacks that can be packed as a picnic for your hike or mountain biking adventure.

Poolside Dining

Relax and enjoy the views while you sip on a refreshing cocktail and casual American fare at the Enchantment Resort pool area. Choose from fresh smoothies, salads, sandwiches, and assorted refreshments.

Mii amo Spa and Wellness Center – Enchantment Resort Spa

The Enchantment Resort spa, Mii amo, was recently renovated and has consistently been named by Travel + Leisure as one of the best spas in the world. Mii amo specializes in mind and body well-being, including nutrition and traditional spa treatments.

In addition, since Enchantment Resort is near a vortex, the Mii amo spa harnesses the nearby magnetic energy in its creative spa menu. Unique spa treatments include options such as sound healing, chakra balancing, a connection ceremony, Crystal Grotto rituals, and inner quests to find inner clarity and peace.

Guests with confirmed spa reservations may enjoy the Living Room, pool, sauna, whirlpool, and steam room on the day of their service. Spa guests must be at least 16 years old.

Pro Tips: I highly recommend you make a reservation for your treatments at least a month in advance. Mii amo is extremely popular, and you don’t want to miss your chance to experience this world-class spa.

Pro Tip:  Loose-fitting clothing that allows stretching is recommended for the following services: Traditional Thai, Table Thai, Reiki, Reiki Healing, Sports Massage, or Cranial Sacral.

Enchantment Resort Activities

Whether you’re exploring the surrounding canyons on a guided hike, indulging in a relaxing spa treatment, or lounging by the pool, there’s no shortage of ways to unwind and recharge at the Enchantment Resort. Below is a “short” list of things to do at the Enchantment Resort and nearby activities.

Hiking

The main reason we chose to visit Sedona was the incredibly scenic hiking. What I didn’t expect was that many of the popular trails are relatively flat. Granted, you can find more challenging hikes, but a day of hiking in Sedona doesn’t require extreme physical fitness.

In fact, trails like Devil’s Bridge or Soldier’s Pass are relatively easy for avid hikers.  A couple of other popular hikes include Boynton Canyon, for which there is a gate at the back of Enchantment Resort just for guests that lets you access the trail without parking at the trailhead, Airport Mesa, and Cathedral Rocks.

Explore the Trail House

The Trail House is the hive for active outdoor experiences in and around the Enchantment Resort. You can let their Adventure Advisors prepare outdoor experiences tailored to your interests and fitness level, such as hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, bike rentals, Grand Canyon adventures, and trail running. You can also view the three-dimensional maps of the local area or shop for the latest gear at the boutique.

We used an Adventure Advisor’s expertise to find hikes that met our criteria for difficulty and beauty.

Mountain Biking

Mountain biking is prevalent in Sedona, and there is no shortage of trails. We saw a mountain bike tour just off the parking lot for the Devil’s Bridge. The long stretch of flat road looked perfect for beginner mountain bikers. For more advanced riders, check out Hog Heaven.

The Sedona mountain biking trails are rated like the ski trail system, with green being the easiest and double black diamond for the most challenging trails.

Stargazing

Stargazing

Light pollution often inhibits stargazing, especially for city dwellers like me. However, the Enchantment Resort, set at the back of Boynton Canyon, allows guests to gaze up at the stars. The Resort Astronomer provides telescopes for viewing the night sky.  Learn about our solar system while you try to find the rings of Saturn or the crevasses on the moon.

Golf

Although there is no course on site, Enchantment Resort can arrange for you to play at Seven Canyons, an 18-hole, Tom Weiskopf-designed championship golf course.

Tennis and Pickleball

Tennis and pickleball courts are onsite for guest enjoyment.

Outdoor Pools

Enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding red rocks while swimming in the pool or letting the world melt away while soaking in the hot tub. There is a main pool, but each group of bungalows also has its own pool.

Fitness Center

Guests can use state-of-the-art fitness equipment and take a variety of wellness classes. We took a yoga class during our stay.

Epicurean Experiences

The resort offers new culinary experiences every month. Choose from cooking demonstrations to private wine-paired dinners to expand your palate and entice your senses.

Art Classes

Be inspired by the surrounding Boynton Canyon and express yourself through art. You can even pair your art class with a glass of the sommelier’s favorite wine.

Take a Hot Air Balloon Ride

Enchantment Resort can arrange a hot-air balloon ride over the stunning red rocks.

For those who would rather keep both feet on the floor, opt for a sunrise hike at Doe Mountain. There, you might catch a view of hot-air balloons floating through the air.

Lawn Games in the Summer

During the summer months, lawn games are available for guests.  Choose from axe throwing, cornhole, ping pong, and more.

Ice Skating in the Winter

In the winter, the lawn is turned into an ice skating rink!

Camp Coyote

Kids ages 4 – 12 can spend the day at Camp Coyote. Trained resort counselors take campers on a variety of adventures, such as nature walks, painting, scavenger hunts, pickleball, and more.

Additional Resort Amenities

At the time of writing this post, the daily resort fee at Enchantment Resort covered parking, a morning ritual and evening meditation at Mii amo, well-being presentations, a Labyrinth Walk, vortex lectures, and access to pay-by-use laundry machines.

Service at the Enchantment Resort

At Enchantment Resort, the staff goes above and beyond to ensure that their guests are well taken care of. Your five-star experience starts from the moment the friendly and helpful valet staff greets you.

The concierge team is available to provide restaurant recommendations or create one-of-a-kind moments for you. They were able to get us a reservation at Elote Cafe, a highly sought-after restaurant that was fully booked when I tried calling.  The staff at Enchantment Resort goes out of its way to create a magical experience for its guests.

Pro Tip:  Elote Cafe is just one of the fantastic restaurants in Sedona, and it is worth venturing outside the grounds to try. For more restaurant recommendations, visit my post about the best things to do in Sedona

As you can see, there is no shortage of reasons to fall in love with this desert oasis.

Should I choose the Enchantment Resort or L’Auberge de Sedona?

When considering luxury resorts in Sedona, it’s impossible not to mention the L ’Auberge de Sedona as a worthy contender. Both Enchantment Resort and L ’Auberge offer unparalleled luxury experiences amidst the captivating landscape of Sedona. While Enchantment Resort creates a tranquil environment deep in Boynton Canyon amidst the red rocks, the L’Auberge de Sedona offers a more intimate and boutique atmosphere.

Each resort has its own unique charm and appeal, from the world-class amenities at Enchantment to the personalized service and attention to detail at L’Auberge de Sedona.

Here is a quick comparison of Enchantment Resort and L’Auberge de Sedona:

Location

Enchantment Resort, as noted in this blog post, is in Boynton Canyon, creating unparalleled views and easy access to some of the best hiking in Sedona.  L’Auberge is a stone’s throw from downtown Sedona.

Winner: It depends. For those who prefer to get away from it all and recharge in a tranquil environment, Enchantment Resort is the clear winner. However, if you are more of a city person and want to be closer to restaurant options and sights such as Cathedral Rocks and the Chapel of the Holy Cross, then L’Auberge is more likely for you.

Resort Setting

Enchantment Resort is surrounded by epic red rock views that feel close enough to touch.

L’Auberge is set just above Oak Creek, which ducks frequent, creating a serene and peaceful environment. The red rocks are also visible, but they are in the distance.  In addition, impressive art sculptures are present throughout the resort.

Resort Spa

The recently renovated world-famous Mii amo spa is located on the grounds of the Enchantment Resort.

The L’Auberge de Sedona Spa with its own blend of specialty treatment options such as wraps and scrubs made from local ingredients, chakra balancing, cranial sacral, holistic massages, and reiki

Winner:  Enchantment Resort with the Mii amo spa.

Resort Rooms

Enchantment Resort’s rooms incorporate a Southwest motif in their interior design, while L’Auberge de Sedona opted for a more contemporary feel.  Our room at the Enchantment Resort felt a little dated.

In addition, Enchantment Resort is a much larger hotel with over 218 rooms, while L’Auberge de Sedona provides more of a boutique hotel vibe with 62 creek-side cottages and 21 lodge-style guestrooms.

Winner:  L’Auberge de Sedona (caveat – opt for a cabin by Oak Creek)

Pet-Friendly Hotel

Enchantment Resort and L’Auberge de Sedona are both pet-friendly hotels.

Winner:  Tie – both hotels have thoughtful pet policies that are designed to create a comfortable environment for you and your four-legged friends.

Bar/Dining

Enchantment Resort offers several different restaurants on the premises, some with a casual but elegant vibe and others with a more upscale approach.  L’Aurberge has a fancier feel with an elevated menu.  Both have beautiful views.

Winner:  Tie – the bar and dining experiences are a personal preference. Although, a cocktail at Che Ah Chi at sunset is a must!

Whether you’re seeking a tranquil retreat or a romantic getaway, both Enchantment Resort and L’Auberge de Seodna promise an unforgettable stay. Ultimately, the choice between the two comes down to personal preference and the type of experience you’re seeking. You cannot go wrong with either Sedona luxury hotel.

Are there any cons to staying at Enchantment Resort?

Overall, we had an incredible experience. There are two small things I would mention. First, the TV in our room didn’t work well, likely because we were deep in Boynton Canyon. For most guests, this is not an issue since they are trying to get away and tune everything out. Unfortunately, the background noise helps me sleep, so not having the TV was a bit annoying.  But this is more of a me problem than a hotel problem.

Second, the resort is about 10-15 minutes away from most restaurants, if not further. We didn’t mind the drive, but I can understand people feeling cut off from the rest of Sedona when staying at the resort.  Again, I think this is the selling point, but I thought I would mention it so you go in with your eyes open.
