Opened in 2019, The St. Regis Hong Kong has quickly gained a reputation as one of the top luxury hotels in Hong Kong, thanks to its impeccable service, stunning design, and a host of unique experiences that make every stay memorable.

The St. Regis Hong Kong exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I walked inside the hotel, I knew we made the right decision. Everything was wonderful, from our city-view room to the service and our overall experience. 

Location: A Prime Spot in the Heart of Hong Kong

Although not located in Kowloon, we found that The St. Regis Hong Kong’s central Wan Chai location offered easy access to the city’s top attractions, from Victoria Harbour to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. We enjoyed walking to nearby neighborhoods to get a flavor of the city and the culture.

It was about a 15-minute walk or a 5-minute cab ride to the Central area making it a favorite among those booking hotels in Hong Kong.

An Overview of the Hotel Rooms

As one of the best luxury hotels in Hong Kong, The St. Regis has 129 elegantly appointed rooms and suites, each offering stunning city or harbor views. Guests can choose from a range of room types, including 91 deluxe rooms, 19 grand deluxe rooms, and 19 suites. For the ultimate experience, consider staying in one of the hotel’s signature suites, such as the 2,583-square-foot Presidential Suite, which offers a private terrace and expansive views of the city skyline.

Luxurious Accommodations: Rooms with a View

The guest rooms feature a sophisticated blend of contemporary and classic design, complete with marble bathrooms, bespoke furnishings, and high-tech amenities like smart lighting and Bose sound systems. We loved our room, and it was fun playing with the in-room amenities. 

The bedroom area includes a king-size bed, a table and chairs, and a small bar area. The décor throughout the room blends the purple-hued marble with wood fixtures, creating a classy and elegant style. This five-star hotel in Hong Kong has a spacious bathroom and bathtub.

The large bathroom contains a separate stall shower, a separate toilet area, a free-standing tub with a mirror that turns into a television, and a double vanity sink.

The room was so lovely that it was tempting to relax in it all day. But with only 24 hours in Hong Kong, we had sights to see and things to do. 

Unmatched Butler Service: A Signature St. Regis Offering

One of the hallmarks that sets The St. Regis apart from other luxury Hong Kong hotels is its personalized butler service, available to all guests. This Hong Kong luxury hotel with personalized butler service is a standout amongst its peers.

Whether arranging a custom itinerary, packing and unpacking luggage, or delivering a morning coffee, the butlers are trained to cater to guests’ every need with grace and discretion, making it one of the best hotels in Hong Kong.

While most people get a little more out of the butler service, we only used it a few times to arrange dinner reservations and a driver. Each interaction was seamless. 

Before we arrived, we worked with the butler service to arrange for a driver to pick us up from the airport. Having a car waiting for you after a long flight is a luxury. We were quickly ushered into the waiting car and headed straight to the hotel, where the staff graciously met us and showed us to our room. 

Special Occasions at The St. Regis

During our stay, we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. The staff went out of their way to make our stay special. When we arrived early in the morning, our room was ready for us. Normally, check-in isn’t until 3 p.m., but we were quickly shown our room. The staff decorated our room and left us breakfast pastries, which was extremely thoughtful. This is just one of the many reasons that The St. Regis is one of the top luxury hotels in Hong Kong.

Gourmet Dining: Michelin-Starred Excellence

Food lovers will be delighted by the dining options at The St. Regis Hong Kong, home to two Michelin-starred restaurants:

L’Envol

A French fine-dining experience led by Chef Olivier Elzer, serving exquisite and innovative seasonal menus that highlight the finest ingredients from France and Asia. The signature dish is the Hokkaido sea urchin starter served in a caviar box over a bed of prawns and crunchy fennel. L’Envol has received two Michelin stars.

Rùn

A modern Cantonese restaurant helmed by Chef Hung Chi-Kwong, Rùn offers innovative takes on classic dishes and a wide selection of dim sum and seafood specialties. The signature dish is char siu, roasted pork marinated in honey for a sweet and savory flavor. Rùn has also received two Michelin stars.

Both restaurants have a smart casual dress code and are open for lunch and dinner every day. 

The Drawing Room

A visit to the Drawing Room reveals a more casual experience with all-day dining and afternoon tea menus, including dim sum options.  

The St. Regis Bar

The St. Regis Bar serves signature cocktails like the “Canto Mary” and bar snacks. Every St. Regis has its own take on a Bloody Mary, but sadly, Bloody Mary’s aren’t my drink of choice. The tale of two cities’ murals behind the elegant bar mixes New York City and Hong Kong to draw in patrons. The St. Regis Bar makes for a relaxing place to have a pre-dinner drink or recharge after a day of sightseeing. 

The wine cellar has a deep bench with over 800 wines, Champagnes, Armagnac, and rate cognacs. Try the perfect wine and cheese pairing with homemade condiments and cheese selection showcased on the cheese trolley.

The daily Champagne sabrage ritual – a nod to the brand’s storied tradition that dates back to 1904 when the founder John Jacob Astor IV sabered a bottle to signify the transition of day to night, is entertaining.

I was invited to give it a try. It’s not as easy as you might think. It took me a few tries before I was able to successfully sabrage a bottle of Champagne. 

If cigars are a vice of choice, you may enjoy a cigar experience on the Astor Terrance. Choose a cigar from over 500 options throughout 25 brands.
