Condo Azul: An Awesome Luxury Vacation Rental in Punta Mita

Punta Mita, Mexico has quickly become one of my favorite getaway destinations because it is beautiful and easy to reach from Los Angeles. My husband and I recently opted to stay at Condo Azul, a luxury vacation rental in Punta Mita. Staying in a vacation rental was new for us, and I didn’t know what to expect or how it would compare to staying at a luxury hotel. Spoiler alert, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed staying at a luxury vacation rental instead of a five-star hotel in Punta Mita. 

My first impression of Condo Azul far exceeded my expectations. The stunning ocean view three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom single-floor condo was, in a word, fantastic! Condo Azul’s private heated infinity pool on an oversized deck with unobstructed ocean views is a reason by itself to book this luxury vacation rental. Condo Azul is located within the exclusive gates of Punta Mita in the TAU Residences. 

What is Punta Mita?

Punta Mita is a massive 1,500-acre private gated community within the City of Punta de Mita. Punta Mita boasts two luxury hotels (the Four Seasons Punta Mita and The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort), five beach clubs, two golf courses, and fifteen-plus residential gated communities.   The residential communities include luxury condos, houses, and villas, many of which you can rent. 

Security is taken extremely seriously in Punta Mita. To pass through the exclusive gates, you must be on the guest list or show your Punta Mita identification card. Once inside the gates, each community has a separate gated entrance guarded 24/7. 

Punta Mita is about forty minutes north of Puerta Vallarta and is in the state of Riviera Nayarit. 

Condo Azul – A Luxury Rental in Punta Mita

The inspiration for the name Condo Azul is easy to see from the blue ocean and the gorgeous blue infinity pool. I could not get enough of the unobstructed views of Las Marietas (Marietas Islands, a World Heritage site), the surfers at La Bahia, and the Bay of Banderas. But the stunning views are not the only reason we loved our Punta Mita luxury vacation rental. 

The serene space is perfect for a Punta Mita luxury vacation rental. The large dining and sitting room opens to the huge outdoor deck and effortlessly creates an indoor-outdoor space you will never want to leave. Where else would you want to eat breakfast and lunch, sip cocktails, and watch the sunset?

What is the layout of Condo Azul?

Condo Azul is a luxury vacation rental that includes three large bedrooms, each with its own ensuite, and sleeps up to 8 adults. Each room has a stunning view of either the ocean or the golf course. 

The two king-sized bedrooms have unobstructed ocean views, plus a furnished deck space to enjoy the stunning surroundings. The deck with the heated infinity pool runs continuously the length of both king-sized bedrooms and the living room creating an enormous indoor-outdoor living space. Both king bedrooms have large bathrooms with a separate bathtub and shower, so you will have plenty of space to spread out and get ready. The ensuite in the purple bedroom even has a separate make-up area!

The third bedroom has two queen-sized beds perfect for kids. The extra-large ensuite bathroom has a shower with two rain shower heads. The bedroom also has its own deck with a sliding glass door leading to views of the golf course and peek-a-boo ocean views. 

Condo Azul also has a powder bathroom for guests.

What are the benefits of Condo Azul?

Where do I start? At a luxury rental in Punta Mita, you might expect certain high-end features and finishes. Condo Azul gives you so much more! The décor is light and modern, complemented by luxury appliances and finishes. The water is purified throughout the condo, making brushing my teeth or getting a glass of water a non-issue.

One of the best benefits is renters are given access to the Premier Punta Mita Membership, which is the highest membership level that guests can take advantage of during a visit.

The membership includes:

• Premium Membership (GOLF) Amenities such as access to Signature Jack Nicklaus golf courses  (Bahia and Pacifico), the Golf Academy, two driving ranges, and three practice putting greens. You can play the famous “Tail of the Whale” natural golf hole in the ocean just off the beach!
• Tennis and Pickle-ball courts
• Fitness Center (opening in the Fall of 2022)
• Five full-service beach clubs, including El Surf Club, where guests can surf at La Lancha.  
• Punta Mita Ocean Sports with access to sports rental equipment such as surfboards, stand-up paddleboards, snorkel equipment, and kayaks
• Walking and biking trails 

Some of these activities may include an extra fee, but it’s worth it!

Your luxury rental in Punta Mita also comes with a six-person golf cart, allowing you to explore Punta Mita on your own without having to rent a car. We loved zipping through the community to check out the different beach clubs, restaurants, and spas! The ability to get around the community so easily and on your own schedule gives this luxury rental a leg up over the Punta Mita luxury hotels. 

There are numerous nearby activities, such as beach clubs, spas, restaurants, golf, surfing, paddleboarding, fishing, snorkeling, and hiking Monkey Mountain. Punta Mita offers unlimited things to do.

Housekeeping and cooking services at Condo Azul

Condo Azul has a modern gourmet kitchen with Wolf and Subzero appliances with an ocean view. However, it’s unlikely you will need to use them because while staying at Condo Azul, you can opt to have your meals cooked for you! Yes, you don’t have to cook on vacation! Carmen, the chef/housekeeper, creates delicious meals and fresh juices.

Carmen made us breakfast and a couple of lunches during our stay. Everything was tasty and presented well. She even accommodated my dietary restrictions and was able to make gluten-free and dairy-free meals for me and regular meals for Gary.

We often opted to eat at the table on the deck to take advantage of the gorgeous ocean views instead of sitting at the table inside that seats ten people.   

Concierge Services at Condo Azul

One of the benefits of staying in a luxury rental in Punta Mita, like Condo Azul, is the personal concierge services available to guests. Upon arrival, we were greeted by our concierge, who helped us get acquainted with Condo Azul, explained how the guest identification cards work, and showed us where to access the golf cart.

We also used the concierge service to book our transportation to and from the airport, arrange for massages at Condo Azul (a real treat), stock the refrigerator with our pre-selected groceries, and make dinner reservations.

Whether you want to have a romantic getaway or relax on a family vacation, the concierge service knows how to cater to discerning travelers. 

Things to do in Punta Mita

Punta Mita offers boundless things to do. Whether you want to relax at a full-service beach club or head out on an adventure, there is something for everyone. The concierge can help you arrange activities such as surf taxis (panga boats), fishing trips, snorkeling excursions to Hidden Beach and Las Marietas, and babysitting services. Alternatively, you can book several tours yourself through Viator. The cost of these excursions through the concierge or Viator is generally less than the five-star hotels in Punta Mita. 

Pro Tip: 

Guests considering surfing while in Punta Mita should know that you do not have direct access to the La Bahia (the Cove) surf break. You must take a boat to reach La Bahia. Therefore, if you plan to surf while staying in Punta Mita, I highly suggest you arrange for a surf taxi.

Outside the gates of Punta Mita

While staying in Punta Mita, you might want to venture outside the gates to the town of Punta de Mita. A short golf cart ride brings you to several high-end, reasonably priced restaurants and a few cute shops and boutiques.

We have eaten at Mina a few times (always good) and recently tried Hector’s Kitchen, which is also very good. There is no shortage of delicious restaurants in and around Punta Mita, such as Mita Mary’s (great for sunset) and Sufi Restaurant.

You might also want to venture to the beach town of Sayulita for dinner one night. A visit to Sayulita is about forty minutes, and there are cute shops, several restaurants, and bars in town.

Takeaways after staying at Condo Azul

Condo Azul was the first luxury vacation rental I have stayed at, and it changed my outlook on vacation rentals. We usually stay at The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort and love it. However, a stay at Condo Azul is different. Condo Azul has many similar amenities to the nearby Four Seasons Punta Mita and The St. Regis Punta Mita. However, Condo Azul felt more like a home rather than a hotel. One big difference between the two (Condo Azul v. luxury resorts in Punta Mita) is direct beach access. Condo Azul is not on the beach, but if you don’t mind a short golf cart ride to a full-service beach club, then Condo Azul is a great option.    

If you are traveling with a group or a family, Condo Azul might be a little easier than a hotel. For instance, I hope to visit again with my parents and my sister’s family (including her kids). It would be easy for all of us to together instead of renting three different rooms at a hotel. We can even hop in the larger golf cart available for rent and all head to a beach club or dinner together. 

Condo Azul is also great for those traveling with another couple or just your own family. Everything you need is easily accessible, and you have so much space to enjoy your surroundings. If you work from home, Punta Mita would also be a terrific place for a long-term or monthly rental!

I will say the one problem with a stay at Condo Azul is you might find yourself checking the local real estate websites to purchase your own piece of heaven. Condo Azul is a unique property that I hope you enjoy as much as us!
